Senator Chuck Grassley, representing Iowa, posted a series of tweets on September 30, 2025, addressing past Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) proposals affecting farmers and recent developments in prescription drug pricing.

In his first post, Grassley criticized previous EPA regulations on farm dust: “I think EPA has wised up but this is how radical EPA has been in the past U see this dust coming from the Grassley combine?? EPA calls that “fugitive dust” EPA was proposing 2regulate fugitive dust by telling farmers that u had to keep dust in property lines #soybeanwatch” (September 30, 2025).

He followed with another tweet describing discussions with the agency: “I finally convinced EPA that only God determines when the wind blows & farmers hv 2combine soybeans when they’re 13% moisture & at that time farmers try to get soybeans harvested as quickly as they can #soybeanwatch” (September 30, 2025).

Grassley’s comments reference earlier debates over “fugitive dust,” a term used by the EPA for particulate matter released during agricultural activities. Proposals to regulate such emissions drew criticism from many in rural states who argued it would impose burdensome restrictions on farmers. These proposals were ultimately not implemented after pushback from lawmakers and agricultural groups.

In a third tweet on September 30, Grassley shifted focus to prescription drug affordability and recent policy actions: “Iowans need affordable Rx drugs 2day Pres Trump announced his success w Pfizer 2lower costs+ $70billion investment for domestic mfg of meds Let’s keep up Pres Trump’s momentum &pass PBM reform”. This statement refers to ongoing efforts at both federal and industry levels to reduce drug prices and increase domestic pharmaceutical manufacturing capacity. Pharmacy Benefit Manager (PBM) reform remains a legislative priority for several lawmakers seeking greater transparency in drug pricing.

Grassley’s advocacy reflects longstanding concerns among Iowa’s farming community about environmental regulation and healthcare costs. As one of the Senate’s senior members, he has frequently addressed these topics through legislation and public statements.
