Senator Chuck Grassley, President pro tempore of the U.S. Senate and a senior Republican from Iowa, has recently shared updates on legislative action, federal payments to Iowans, and his personal response to the recent government shutdown through posts on social media.
On November 19, 2025, Grassley announced his involvement in legislative transparency efforts by stating: “As President pro tempore I just signed the Epstein Files Transparency Act”.
Later that day, he addressed concerns from constituents regarding Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) payments. In his post dated November 19, 2025, Grassley wrote: “To the many Iowans reaching out to my offices asking when they will receive CRP payments—they are on their way After hearing from u my office called USDA to get an answer Thx 2 USDA for working thru backlog caused by Schumer Shutdown”. The Conservation Reserve Program is a land conservation program administered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), which provides yearly rental payments to farmers in exchange for removing environmentally sensitive land from agricultural production.
In another message posted on November 20, 2025, Grassley reflected on bipartisanship during the holiday season and detailed his actions during the government shutdown: “As we approach the holiday season I hope my colleagues r inspired 2bring more bipartisanship/cooperation to the policymaking table During the govt shutdown I did not take a paycheck In this season of thanksgiving Barbara & I will donate those wages to our hometown churches”. The referenced “Schumer Shutdown” refers to a period when parts of the federal government ceased operations due to lapses in funding appropriations.
Grassley’s public statements highlight both ongoing legislative developments and constituent service issues amid recent disruptions in government operations.
