Congressman Zach Nunn, who represents Iowa in the U.S. House of Representatives and serves as a Colonel in the Air Force Reserve, recently used his social media platform to highlight the contributions of Iowa farmers, advocate for government funding to pay military personnel, and recognize the United States Navy’s 250th anniversary.

On October 12, 2025, Nunn expressed appreciation for agricultural workers, stating, “Iowa’s farmers work tirelessly every day to feed our families, fuel our nation, and keep our communities thriving. Today, we honor their commitment and the vital role they play in keeping both Iowa and America strong.”

The following day, October 13, 2025, Nunn addressed ongoing efforts to ensure government operations continue and military service members are compensated during funding negotiations. He wrote, “I joined @RepLaLota and fellow @HouseGOP veterans urging the Senate to pass our clean CR to open the government and pay our troops. All of us wore the uniform, and I still serve as a Colonel in the Air Force Reserve. We know what it means to serve and what is at stake for those”.

Later on October 13, Nunn marked a milestone for the United States Navy by posting, “For 250 years, the @USNavy has protected our nation at home and abroad, defending freedom while leading with strength, honor, and a commitment to America’s security. Happy Birthday to the United States Navy! “

Nunn’s statements reflect his ongoing advocacy for both the agricultural sector in Iowa—a state where farming plays a central economic role—and support for military service members. As an Air Force Reserve Colonel, Nunn has firsthand experience with military service, which informs his positions on defense funding and veterans’ issues.

The mention of a “clean CR” refers to a continuing resolution—a temporary measure Congress can use to fund federal agencies when formal appropriations have not been signed into law. Such resolutions are frequently employed during budget impasses to avoid government shutdowns and ensure essential services continue uninterrupted.
