Grassley’s background includes serving in the Iowa state legislature from 1958 to 1974 and experience as a factory worker. He holds degrees in political science from the University of Northern Iowa and continues to raise corn and soybeans in Butler County, Iowa. As one of only two farmers currently serving in the U.S. Senate, he brings an agricultural perspective to his legislative work.
