Des Moines Area Community College recently issued the following announcement.

Have a Plan to Vote on November 3

Every election is determined by the people who show up. Use these resources to make a plan to vote this November and let your voice be heard.

To be eligible to vote in Iowa, you must be:

  • a U.S. citizen,
  • an Iowa Resident, and
  • 18 years old by election day, November 3. 
1. Register to Vote

All eligible voters in Iowa must first be registered to vote.  

College students have the option to register to vote either:

  •  in your hometown or
  • where you currently live.
You can only register to vote in one location. See College Student Voter Information.

Check to see if you're already registered to vote. - All you need is your first name, last name and zip code.

  • If you're not yet registered, use these step-by-step instructions to register either online or download a form and return to your County Auditor.
  • If you're registered and need to update your information, visit the Iowa Secretary of State's Voter Registration page. 
2. Decide How to Vote

You Have 3 Ways to Vote

  1. Absentee Voting by Mail
    • Request an Absentee Ballot
    • Track your Absentee Ballot here

       

  2. Absentee Voting in Person at your County Auditor's office (through Nov. 2)
    • Find Your County Auditor's Office

       

  3. Vote on Election Day
    • Find your Precinct/Polling Place
    • Remember to Bring Your ID!
