Des Moines Area Community College issued the following announcement on Jan. 5.

WHAT:
ICAN will host a "FAFSA Step By Step" Interactive Q&A Session. This FREE event will feature a step-by-step discussion to help students complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
WHEN:
The free event will be held from 5 to 6 p.m., on Wednesday, January 13, via both Facebook LIVE and Zoom.
WHERE:
- RSVP at the event Facebook page; or
- Register to attend via Zoom.
DMACC Financial Aid Director Ean Freels, ICAN Vice President of Programs Erick Danielson and ICAN Communications Director Brittania Morey will be serving as guest panelists.
WHAT:
The FAFSA is the application used to collect information to determine a student's eligibility for financial aid rewards. It is the first step in the financial aid process. Students complete the FAFSA to apply for federal student aid, such as grants, work-study opportunities and loans. In addition, most states and colleges use information from the FAFSA to award state aid.
