While events at the U.S.-Mexico border get “federal action,” a joint letter to President Joe Biden says there’s still an immigration problem.

The letter was signed by 26 governors. It said that many states had "committed unprecedented resources to support the security of the national border," however, Biden needed to "faithfully execute" immigration law.

Reynolds and the other governors want to discuss the U.S.-Mexico border with the president.

“Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds, 25 other governors request a meeting with Biden over border chaos,” the Federation for American Immigration Reform wrote on Twitter.

Reynolds said Iowa sees rising illegal drug crimes.

“The crisis at the border does not stay at the border,” Reynolds’ office said in a news release. “In Iowa, law enforcement officials are seeing an uptick in major narcotics crimes. Iowa law enforcement seized roughly 6,136 grams of fentanyl between January and June of this year, which marks a 1,070% increase from the same period last year.
