Spring cleaning has begun and SCRUB is back and ready to handle your bulk items and yard waste in 2022.
The first SCRUB event of the year is being held from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. tomorrow, where residents of Des Moines are welcome to get rid of large items and yard waste for free.
"SCRUB is a great opportunity for our residents to get rid of things for free,” said Des Moines Public Works Director Jonathan Gano. “All you have to do is get it here and unload it, and we’ll handle the rest."
The Metro Waste Authority’s Transfer Station at 4198 Delaware Ave. will be open to handle large items such as appliances, furniture, and building materials. It will also have a marked truck for disposal of old tires.
At the same time, residents with large amounts of yard waste will be able to drop it off at the MWA Compost Center 1601 Harriett St.
Proof of residency (ID or utility bill) is required at both SCRUB sites)
