On October 6, Grassley noted his interaction with interns from Senator Joni Ernst’s office, writing: "Met w Sen Ernst interns 2day THX 4 the Jolly Time popcorn Made in Sioux City". Later that day, he detailed a meeting with student leaders: "Got to sit down with students from the National Council on Youth Leadership 12ppl Issues: bipartisanship, my work on the First Step Act, my monthly radio interviews, the committees I serve on etc.".

On October 7, Grassley addressed the passing of an Iowa State Senator: "Barbara and I are sorry to hear the news of State Sen Claire Celsi’s passing We are praying for her family& friends during this difficult time".

Chuck Grassley has served as Iowa's senator since 1981 and is known for engaging regularly with constituents through public events and social media. The First Step Act referenced in one tweet was bipartisan criminal justice reform legislation passed by Congress in December 2018.
