Des Moines home prices rise in the third quarter of 2017

The median sale price of a home sold in the third quarter of 2017 in Des Moines rose by $5,100 while total sales increased by 4.4%, according to BlockShopper.com.

From July through September of 2017, there were 1,413 homes sold, with a median sale price of $130,000 - a 4.1% increase over the $124,900 median sale price for the same period of the previous year. There were 1,354 homes sold in Des Moines in the third quarter of 2016.

The median sales tax in Des Moines for 2017 was $2,488. In 2016, the median sales tax was $2,440. This marks an increase of 2%. The effective property tax rate, using the median property tax and median home sale price as the basis, is 1.9%.
