City of des Moines issued the following announcement on Oct. 16
With a little help from Mother Nature, the City of Des Moines’ 47th Street and Holcomb Avenue Storm Sewer Improvement Project will likely start within the next few weeks. MidAmerican Energy recently completed its utility work in the neighborhood, allowing construction to begin on the nearly $6 million storm water drainage project. The contractor, S.M. Hentges & Sons Inc, says construction will start on the northeast corner of 47th and Holcomb, working south towards Hickman Road on the east side of 47th Street.
"Unfortunately, we had a number of delays this fall because of the wet weather, and we really appreciate the patience and understanding of the 47th & Holcomb neighborhood," said Project Engineer Matt Radermacher. "We all look forward to getting this important project underway."
A few days before the storm sewer construction begins, residents will be updated by the City with door hanger notices. For more information, explore the interactive map of the City’s Project and Capital Improvement Program.
