Congressman Zach Nunn, who represents Iowa's 3rd congressional district, recently shared updates on social media regarding service academy nominations, water infrastructure funding, and tax policies affecting working families.

On September 8, 2025, Nunn reminded constituents about the upcoming deadline for U.S. Service Academy nominations. In his post he stated: "Are you interested in attending a U.S. Service Academy? The deadline to apply for nomination is quickly approaching! Contact our office with any questions, and be sure to get your application in by October 18! "

Later that day, Nunn announced the securing of federal funds for water infrastructure projects in several Iowa communities. He wrote on September 8: "We secured funding for critical water infrastructure in:

Bondurant

Minburn

Ankeny

From replacing lead pipes to building new infrastructure, I’ll keep fighting to ensure every Iowa family has access to clean, safe drinking water." These investments aim to address issues such as aging pipelines and contamination risks.

On September 9, Nunn highlighted recent tax measures intended to benefit Iowa families and small businesses. He posted: "The Working Families Tax Cuts deliver for Iowans:

No Tax On Tips & Overtime

Expanded Child Tax Credit

Trump Tax Cuts locked in

Small Business Deduction locked in

Real results for working families and Main Street businesses." The referenced provisions reflect ongoing debates at the federal level over maintaining or expanding tax relief programs for individuals and businesses.

Service academy nominations are a process whereby members of Congress nominate candidates from their districts for appointment to four U.S. service academies. Funding improvements for water systems have been a legislative priority nationwide due to concerns about public health and aging infrastructure. Similarly, adjustments to federal tax policy continue to play a central role in economic discussions both nationally and within states like Iowa.
