The first quarter of 2021: Home prices in Des Moines increased

The median sale price of a home sold in the first quarter of 2021 in Des Moines rose by $18,500 while total sales increased by 14.8%, according to BlockShopper.com.

From January through March of 2021, there were 1,016 homes sold, with a median sale price of $152,000 - a 13.9% increase over the $133,500 median sale price for the same period of the previous year. There were 885 homes sold in Des Moines in the first quarter of 2020.

The median sales tax in Des Moines for the most recent year with available data, 2017, was $2,488, approximately 1.6% of the median home sale price for the first quarter of 2021.
