Drake University issued the following announcement on July 15.
Drake University’s School of Accounting announced two new scholarships to promote diversity and not-for-profit work in the accounting field. The scholarships, totaling $2,500 each, will be available to qualifying students pursuing Master of Accounting degrees.
“These scholarships aim to reduce barriers for students from underrepresented groups who want to advance in the accounting field and enhance their professional knowledge of accounting in the not-for-profit sector,” said Alejandro Hernandez, dean of Drake’s College of Business and Public Administration, which is home to the School of Accounting. “This effort is part of our continuing work to eliminate inequities and ease economic obstacles for achieving a graduate-level education.”
About the scholarships:
The Drake University Master of Accounting Diversity Scholarship
To apply, students must be entering their first semester as a Drake University Master of Accounting student and identify as a member of one of the following groups: American Indian or Alaska Native or Indigenous, Asian, Black or African American, Hispanic or Latino or Latinx, Native Hawaiian or other Pacific Islander. Applicants must intend on pursuing or continuing a career in accounting. The award will be given in the first semester for a total of $2,500.
The Drake University Master of Accounting Not-for-Profit Scholarship
To apply, students must be entering their first semester as a Drake University Master of Accounting student and currently work for a not-for-profit organization in an accounting capacity. The award will be given in the first semester for a total of $2,500.
