A new poll in Iowa gave former President Donald Trump his highest approval rating ever Oct. 4, surpassing those received while he was in office.
The poll, which was conducted by the Des Moines Register, found that 53% of voters approved of Trump, resulting in higher numbers than any of the previous polls taken in Iowa when he was president, according to Newsweek.
“Donald Trump’s favorability ratings are his highest in any Iowa Poll," a Twitter user said in a tweet Oct. 4.
The new numbers from the poll preceded a scheduled visit from Trump, who plans to hold a rally in Iowa on Oct. 9, with many speculating a possible presidential run for 2024, according to Newsweek. However, an announcement regarding an official run is unlikely to happen during the rally.
While Trump's approval rating among Iowa voters remains his highest in the country for public polls, his favorability rating among Republicans is 91%, 10 points higher than the results from Sen. Chuck Grassley’s favorability measurement among Republicans, according to Radio Iowa.
During the 2016 election, the former president turned Iowa red and has steadily grown his approval rating over the past few months while current President Joe Biden is struggling to raise his own approval rate in the state, according to Newsweek.
