Iowa State running back Breece Hall has been named a semifinalist for the Maxwell Award.
An ISU-issued press release said the All-American rusher is among the 15 names vying for the accolade, which the Maxwell Football Club presents to the nation’s best collegiate football player, fan blog Cyclone Fanatic reported.
An old tweet of Hall’s could apply to this moment in his young collegiate career.
“This is why I came to Iowa State...,” the 20-year-old communication studies major shared earlier this year.
Hall is among a trio of players who have landed on the list for the second consecutive year.
The other two are Cincinnati’s Desmond Ridder and Coastal Carolina’s Grayson McCall, according to Cyclone Fanatic.
Hall, a sophomore bulldozer who attended and played for Wichita Northwest High School in Kansas, is enjoying another breakout season.
His 123.1 rushing yards per game and 12 scores top the Big 12 as of Nov. 1, KIWA Radio reported.
Eight ISU records, including 46 career touchdowns, belong to Hall.
In the Cyclones’ 38-31 loss to conference foe West Virginia on the eve of Halloween, Hall ran for 167 yards and a touchdown on 24 carries, Cyclone Fanatic reported.
ISU’s upcoming game against Texas on Nov. 6 will be a track meet against Hall and the Big 12I’s second-leading rusher Bijan Robinson, who’s also a Maxwell semifinalist.
