The second half of 2021: Home prices in Des Moines increased

The median sale price of a home sold in the second half of 2021 in Des Moines rose by $15,500 while total sales increased by 4.5%, according to BlockShopper.com.

From July through December of 2021, there were 2,745 homes sold, with a median sale price of $170,000 - a 10% increase over the $154,500 median sale price for the same period of the previous year. There were 2,627 homes sold in Des Moines in the second half of 2020.

The median sales tax in Des Moines for the most recent year with available data, 2017, was $2,488, approximately 1.5% of the median home sale price for the second half of 2021.
