The Iowa State women’s basketball team stumbled against Baylor 87-61 on Sunday, but the Cyclones still share a piece of the lead in the Big 12 standings.

It was the second loss in a row for the Cyclones, with both losses coming against ranked teams. Texas was 15th for the Jan. 19 game and Baylor was 14th on Sunday, though the Bears have since moved into the top 10.

“For me, when I look at the box score, the thing I’m most proud of is the 26 assists on 32 baskets,” Baylor’s head coach Nicki Collen said in the postgame news conference. “That's what I want our offense to look like.”

A strong second quarter, where the Bears outscored Iowa State 27-15, was a big factor, but playing at Baylor is tough for any opponent. The Bears (13-4 overall, 3-4 in the Big 12) are undefeated in eight home games this season.

Ashley Joens led the Cyclones, putting up 19 points. She also pulled down seven rebounds.

Her teammates Maggie Espenmiller-McGraw and Beatriz Jordan were also in double figures, adding 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Jordan Lewis led the Bears with 24 points.

With the two losses, Iowa State (16-3, 5-2) dropped from No. 8 to No. 14 in the polls.

The Cyclones looked to turn things around when they hosted the Kansas Wednesday night. They defeated the Jayhawks 62-77.
