The Annual Polk City Water Main Flushing begins today throughout the City.
The flushing will take place from April 18 until April 22, 2022. We will flush from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
Water main flushing moves water systematically through sections of the drinking water distribution system, creating a scouring action to clean the line. The increased flow rate scours the water pipe’s inner walls and helps to remove build-up of naturally occurring debris and sediment. The water is discharged through select fire hydrants.
All customers should be aware that water main flushing will likely cause some temporary water discoloration. If your water appears discolored, run the cold-water tap. The discoloration is temporary.
