WHO:
DMACC Human Services, Nursing and Respiratory Therapy students will be simulating a winter storm that takes out the power to a hospital.
WHAT:
The students will need to continue to care for their patients without electricity.
WHEN:
6 to 8 p.m., Monday, November 14
WHERE:
DMACC Capitol Building, 1300 Des Moines St., Des Moines
WHY:
Hospitals depend upon electricity to power lights, heat and medical equipment. But what happens when a powerful winter storm knocks out all electrical power to a hospital? The DMACC students from three programs will continue to care for their patients, in the dark, without computers and monitors, as they cope with what could happen if they had no electricity and no knowledge of when power might be restored.
