City Schedule for Juneteenth

DES MOINES, IOWA –  In observance of the Juneteenth holiday, most City of Des Moines offices and buildings will be closed on Monday, June 19. There will be no delay in collection of garbage, recycling or yard waste.

All Des Moines Public Library branches will be closed on Monday, June 19 and resume regular hours on Tuesday, June 20. We invite all community members to visit DMPL.org/Juneteenth or visit a library location to learn more about the history of Juneteenth, slavery, American Civil War and Emancipation, and civil rights movements.

In addition, there are multiple ways to celebrate and explore Juneteenth in Des Moines. Here’s a few opportunities to consider:
