Later that day, Nunn reflected on the tragic case of Sarah Root, whose life was ended by an illegal immigrant nine years ago. He noted a gap in the law allowed her killer to be released without facing justice. In response, he joined forces with Representative Feenstra and Senator Joni Ernst to advocate for legislation aimed at providing justice for families like the Roots'. "Nine years ago, Sarah Root’s life was tragically cut short by an illegal immigrant. Due to a gap in the law, her killer was released and never faced justice. I joined @RepFeenstra and @SenJoniErnst today to champion legislation to provide justice to families like the Roots."

In another tweet posted on January 22, 2025, Congressman Nunn expressed his enthusiasm about working towards unleashing American energy through biofuels produced in the heartland. He highlighted ongoing efforts with the Administration toward achieving permanent year-round sales of E15 fuel blends.
