U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley from Iowa recently hosted Steve Doocy of Fox & Friends at his New Hartford farm for a morning walk and conversation. During the visit, they discussed various topics including Grassley's farming activities, social media presence, affection for Iowa, and the Republican's One Big Beautiful Bill.

Grassley remarked on Washington's disconnect from everyday life by stating, "Washington is an island surrounded by reality. This is real America."

Throughout their walk, Grassley explained his initiative called #CornWatch and #SoybeanWatch: “I try to tell people, as much as I can, about the two percent of Americans that grow the food for the other 98 percent. I have what you call #CornWatch and #SoybeanWatch, where, starting in April through October harvest, I give updates on the crops in Iowa.”

Discussing legislative matters, Grassley shared his views on the One Big Beautiful Bill: “[The One Big Beautiful Bill] is a good thing because if we don’t pass it, we’d automatically have the biggest tax increase in the history of the country – that’d be about $4.7 trillion.” He further added that it would benefit working Americans by avoiding taxes on tips and overtime while offering increased deductions for seniors.

Grassley also expressed his fondness for Iowa's landscape compared to urban settings: “[When I’m in Washington], I miss the broad space and dirt under your feet. You know, out of 435 congressional districts, there’s probably only 60 that have dirt in their district. The rest of it’s cement. Getting out here in the real world, it’s pretty good.”
