Congressman Zach Nunn, who represents Iowa's 3rd congressional district, recently addressed several key national security and economic issues through a series of posts on his official Twitter account.

On July 19, 2025, Nunn highlighted the importance of cybersecurity in the United States, stating: "We know that foreign actors leverage weak spots in our cybersecurity to steal data. Proud to cosponsor and help pass @RepGregLandsman's Understanding Cybersecurity of Mobile Networks Act this week to expose these risks and strengthen U.S. network security."

The following day, Nunn commented on recent developments regarding U.S.-Russia relations and sanctions policy. On July 20, he wrote: "President Trump just put Putin on the clock. This week, we led the push for a maximum sanctions regime to hit the Russian war machine hard if they refuse to come to the table."

Later that same day, Nunn turned his attention to trade practices by China. He stated: "China is flooding global markets with hidden subsidies—costing American jobs and billions in exports. I introduced the Neutralizing China Unfair Subsidies Act to stop the CCP’s rigged game and put Iowa’s manufacturers, farmers, and workers first."

The Understanding Cybersecurity of Mobile Networks Act mentioned by Nunn aims to address vulnerabilities in mobile networks that could be exploited by foreign adversaries—a concern that has grown as digital threats continue to evolve.

In reference to Russia, calls for increased sanctions follow ongoing tensions related to its military activities abroad. Maximum sanctions regimes are often used as tools by U.S. policymakers seeking leverage in diplomatic negotiations or conflict resolution.

Regarding China’s trade practices, allegations of unfair subsidies have been a recurring issue between Washington and Beijing. Legislation such as the Neutralizing China Unfair Subsidies Act reflects efforts by lawmakers like Nunn to counteract what they view as anti-competitive measures impacting American industries.
