Senator Chuck Grassley, a Republican representing Iowa and one of the longest-serving members of the U.S. Senate, has recently shared updates on his official Twitter account regarding government transparency, prescription drug pricing, and constituent engagement.
On July 21, 2025, Grassley announced the public release of a document known as the "Clinton annex," stating: "Im making 'Clinton annex' public 2day so the American ppl hv all the facts Sen Johnson & I hv requested this document’s declassification together since 2020 & Pres Trump/Pam Bondi/Kash Patel + others finally got it done Thx 4 ur dedication to transparency". The senator emphasized that he and Senator Ron Johnson had sought declassification of this document for several years. Grassley credited former President Donald Trump, Pam Bondi, Kash Patel, and others for their roles in facilitating its release.
The following day, on July 22, Grassley addressed concerns about international prescription drug pricing. He wrote: "Americans should not hv 2 foot the bill 4 prescription drug R&D bc of foreign price controls Joined lttr by Sen Young of Indiana to USTR / Commerce supporting Trumps push 2 make other countries pay more / fair share of usa drug innovation and filling top IP Negotiator position". In this post, Grassley referenced joining a letter with Senator Todd Young from Indiana to both the United States Trade Representative (USTR) and Department of Commerce. The letter supports efforts led by former President Trump to encourage other countries to contribute more equitably toward costs associated with pharmaceutical research and development originating in the United States.
Later that morning on July 22, Grassley highlighted a meeting with constituents from Mason City: "Met w the Bookmeyer family from Mason City issues: my work as chairman of Judic Cmte, my schedule, Iowa State Uni etc thx 4 stopping in". The senator noted topics discussed included his role as chairman of the Judiciary Committee and matters related to Iowa State University.
Grassley's recent communications reflect ongoing themes in his legislative career—government accountability through document transparency initiatives; advocacy for fairer international cost-sharing in pharmaceutical innovation; and regular engagement with Iowans through meetings with local families. As chair or ranking member on several Senate committees over decades—including Judiciary—Grassley has been an influential figure in shaping policy debates on oversight and intellectual property rights.
