Congressman Zach Nunn, who represents Iowa's 3rd Congressional District and serves on the House Financial Services Committee, posted a series of updates on July 23, 2025, regarding legislative action and national security concerns.

In a tweet from July 23, 2025, Nunn announced the advancement of new legislation targeting Russian financial networks: "Our bipartisan PEACE Act blocks foreign banks that help fund Putin’s war from using the U.S. financial system. I'm proud that it passed the Financial Services Committee with overwhelming support—53 to 1—and is the first Russia sanctions bill to advance to the House floor." The passage of this bill marks a significant step in U.S. efforts to sanction Russia for its ongoing actions in Ukraine. The PEACE Act is designed to prevent foreign institutions supporting Russia’s military operations from accessing American financial markets.

Later that day, Nunn provided an update on discussions within Congress about global security threats: "The @RepublicanStudy National Security Task Force met with @SecDef Hegseth this morning for a critical update on global threats. Peace through strength remains the foundation of U.S. leadership. " The Republican Study Committee is known as one of the largest conservative caucuses in Congress and regularly convenes task forces focused on policy issues.

In another post from July 23, Nunn addressed concerns over Chinese influence campaigns: "Beijing is running a nationalized information campaign—using cyber attacks, export controls, and political warfare to target Taiwan and influence the U.S. I’ve seen these threats firsthand. We need a whole-of-nation response to expose and counter the CCP’s aggression." Recent years have seen heightened tensions between China and both Taiwan and the United States, with reports indicating increased cyber activity attributed to state-backed actors.

Congressman Zach Nunn has previously emphasized his commitment to national security issues during his tenure in Congress and has served as an advocate for strengthening U.S. responses to foreign threats.
