Congressman Zach Nunn has highlighted legislative efforts and international concerns in a series of posts on social media, focusing on water safety initiatives and U.S. foreign policy toward China and Taiwan.
On July 30, 2025, Nunn addressed public health infrastructure, stating, "Access to clean, safe water is not a partisan issue, it's a public health priority. Our new bill redirects $15B in existing funds to help replace toxic lead pipes, including those still serving over 160,000 Iowans." The following day, he continued his advocacy for improved water systems by posting, "Right now, too many communities receive their water through unsafe, outdated pipes despite the availability of federal funds to replace them. Our new bipartisan bill ensures 100% of the dollars Congress set aside to replace lead pipes end up in the communities that need them" (July 31, 2025).
Later that same day, Nunn shifted focus to international security issues regarding China’s intentions toward Taiwan. He wrote: "President Xi has made his intentions clear: Taiwan by 2027. America's response must be just as clear: strategic cooperation, cutting-edge defense investment, and bipartisan leadership to support Taiwan and counter China's influence in the Indo-Pacific." (July 31, 2025).
Lead contamination in drinking water remains an ongoing concern across the United States. Efforts at both state and federal levels have aimed to accelerate the replacement of aging lead service lines—an initiative supported by several recent legislative proposals.
The discussion about China’s ambitions regarding Taiwan continues amid rising tensions in the region. U.S. lawmakers have debated various approaches involving military readiness and diplomatic engagement with allies in East Asia.
