The One Big Beautiful Bill Act, recently signed into law by President Donald Trump on July 4, 2025, has resulted in increased federal funding for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The Senate Judiciary Committee, chaired by Senator Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), played a central role in advancing the legislation.
“America’s brave ICE officers are putting their own lives on the line to make our communities safer,” Grassley said. “I was proud to secure historic investments in border security and immigration enforcement through Republicans’ One Big Beautiful Bill Act. These measures ensure law enforcement officers have the tools they need to protect American citizens from foreign criminals and terrorists. I applaud ICE for its tireless work to defend our nation.”
According to information provided by Grassley’s office, the new law includes the largest investment package in recent history for border and immigration efforts. This funding is aimed at supporting recruitment and retention of ICE personnel as well as expanding enforcement and removal operations.
Recent enforcement actions highlighted include arrests of individuals convicted or charged with crimes such as gang activity, kidnapping, sexual assault, child exploitation, murder, femicide, child endangerment, abuse, trafficking, and other serious offenses across multiple states including Texas, California, New Jersey, Florida, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Minnesota, and Los Angeles.
The legislative package also contains judiciary provisions designed to strengthen national security measures and reform aspects of the immigration system. It expands resources available to law enforcement agencies and seeks to provide additional protections for families while addressing concerns related to judicial authority.
Major law enforcement organizations representing more than 310,000 officers nationwide have expressed support for Grassley’s involvement in passing this legislation.
