Congressman Zach Nunn, representing Iowa's 3rd congressional district and a 20-year veteran of the U.S. Air Force, recently shared several updates on social media regarding agricultural policy and military service.
On September 17, 2025, Nunn announced progress in ethanol policy by stating, "We secured an E-15 waiver through the end of this year, but we're not stopping there. I’m listening to Iowa farmers and helping lead the fight for year-round E-15 to lower costs, strengthen Iowa agriculture, and deliver for families." The E-15 waiver allows for expanded sale of gasoline containing 15% ethanol during summer months—a key issue for Iowa’s corn growers.
The following day, September 18, Nunn marked the anniversary of the United States Air Force with a message recognizing military service: "As a 20-year veteran of the U.S. Air Force and Colonel in the Reserves, I know firsthand the dedication of the airmen and women who protect our skies. Grateful for their service as we celebrate 78 years of the @USAirForce. "
Later that same day, Nunn addressed rural economic challenges facing his constituents. He wrote: "USDA runs dozens of programs to support farm economies, but the reality I hear from Iowa farmers is that they are stuck in the past. At @HouseAgGOP, I outlined our bipartisan fix to raise outdated loan caps and give rural Iowa room to grow." This comment reflects ongoing debates over modernization of federal agricultural support programs.
Iowa remains one of the leading states in both corn production and ethanol manufacturing. Policies surrounding E-15 fuel blends directly affect local economies and national energy markets. Congressman Nunn has been active on agricultural issues since taking office.
