Zach Nunn highlights manufacturing growth, innovation awards, and apprenticeship expansion in Iowa

Congressman Zach Nunn has recently highlighted efforts and developments supporting Iowa's manufacturing sector, education, and workforce initiatives through a series of posts on social media.

On September 20, 2025, Nunn noted the importance of local industry leaders meeting with policymakers in Washington. He stated, "Iowa's equipment manufacturers joined us in D.C. this week to discuss the challenges and opportunities ahead for this growing industry. From agriculture to construction, Iowa's manufacturers drive growth across our state, strengthen supply chains, and support good-paying jobs."

Later that day, he recognized Iowa State University's achievement in a national competition. Nunn posted on September 20, 2025: "Congratulations to @IowaStateU for their proposal “RuralSTAMINA” being named a finalist in the National Science Foundation’s Regional Innovation Engines program. Their project showcases leadership and strengthens Iowa’s rural economy by building an innovative ecosystem that" The National Science Foundation’s Regional Innovation Engines program is designed to spur innovation across various U.S. regions by funding projects that promote economic development and technological advancement.

The following day, Nunn addressed alternative career pathways for Iowans. On September 21, 2025, he wrote: "A four-year degree isn't the only path to a high-paying job. We’re leading legislation to expand apprenticeships and hands-on career training to connect Iowans ready to work with businesses ready to hire." Expanding apprenticeships has been part of ongoing federal and state efforts aimed at reducing workforce shortages and increasing employment opportunities without requiring traditional college degrees.
