City of Polk City recently issued the following announcement.

The City of Polk City will continue to monitor the COVID-19 outbreak and will continue to follow guidance from Governor Kim Reynolds to help prevent community spread.  The City is committed to protecting the health of its staff, residents and businesses during this pandemic.  We are emphasizing precautions to decrease the spread of diseases and asking everyone to practice good hygiene, including frequent hand washing with soap and water for 20 seconds, covering coughs and sneezes.  We are asking people to stay home and stay safe as much as possible. With social distancing encouraged the City of Polk City has restricted access to all municipal buildings to authorized personnel only.  Many programs and events have been canceled or postponed.  Several City services have been suspended or switched over to remote options only.  Please continue to check this website for updated information posted as needed for Polk City.  For statewide information visit https://coronavirus.iowa.gov/  City Hall City Hall Staff will be available M-F from 8a-5p to assist you over the phone at 515-984-6233 with utility billing, building permits, pet licensing and other questions/concerns as necessary.  Staff can also be reached at support@polkcityia.gov Some services are available online at https://polkcityia.gov and we do have a 24/7 drop box in front of City Hall. Public Meetings will continue as scheduled but will not be open to public attendance.  Meetings will be broadcast live at https://polkcityia.gov/page/LiveStream for viewing.  The public can participate in the meeting by dialing in to 515-329-8019, participant code 593054 or by providing comments prior to 4:30 p.m. on the date of the meeting.  Comments can be sent by email to support@polkcityia.gov or by calling 515-984-6233.  All comments received prior to 4:30 p.m. on the date of the meeting will be made a part of the public hearing. Suspended services: Notary Services have been suspended Peddler’s Permits will not be issued at this time Facility Rentals are canceled through April 16, 2020  Fire/EMS - Community outreach has been suspended and the FD is taking extra precautions to avoid COVID-19 exposure. Library Services - You can continue to reserve materials online http://www.polkcitylibrary.org/ reservations can be picked up at the Library M-F 10a-5p, please follow instructions on the automated sign upon arrival.  Parks & Recreation programs postponed until further notice.  Summer registrations are also postponed until further notice. Parks & Trails remain open and can be used at your comfort level, however, please note that we do not sanitize outdoor play structures, playgrounds or equipment.  Restrooms and water fountains in all parks continue to be closed.  We encourage people to practice appropriate social distancing and follow all the CDC guidelines when it comes to safely interacting with other people and preventing community spread of diseases.  Public Works - Meter installation and repair has been suspended except for new construction and non-critical tasks within occupied residences are suspended except for emergencies on a case by case basis. Police - Community outreach has been suspended and fingerprinting services have been suspended. The PD is taking extra precautions to avoid COVID-19 exposure.
