City of Des Moines recently issued the following announcement.

Members of the City of Des Moines Engineering Department will be available to discuss the planned Penn. Ave. Reconstruction project from north of University Ave. to Washington Ave. The project will begin just north of the main drive on the east side of Lutheran Hospital and extend north to the intersection of Penn Ave. and E. Washington Ave. A 10-foot mixed use trail will replace existing sidewalk on the west side of Penn. Ave. from University Ave. to near Birdland Marina.
The project is schedule to bid during the fall/winter of 2021, with construction to begin during the spring of 2022. At this time, we have completed preliminary design for the project and would like to provide an opportunity to present the preliminary design to you as well as gather your feedback on the project.
