Indie rock band Spoon recently announced that they were canceling a scheduled concert in Iowa over the state’s COVID-19 policies, according to KCCI News.
The band requires proof of full vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test dated 48 hours prior to entry to their concerts.
Back in May, Gov. Kim Reynolds signed a law that bans Iowa businesses and government from requiring anyone to provide proof that they are vaccinated against COVID-19.
“Due to Iowa’s limitations of vaccine mandates, we’re regrettably canceling the Sept 9 Des Moines Show,” Spoon wrote in a statement posted to Facebook on Aug. 20. “... We sincerely apologize to ticket holders in Des Moines.”
The band stated that ticket holders can refer to their point of purchase for refunds and that the concert originally scheduled for Hoyt Sherman Place in Des Moines will be replaced with a show in Omaha on the same date.
“Tickets for the Slowdown in Omaha on September 9th are on sale now. Details on specific show polices will be messaged to ticket buyers for each show,” the band added in their statement.
