A new COVID-19 proclamation has been signed by Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds, according to WOWT News.
"The Provisions of this proclamation shall be effective immediately, unless otherwise noted. This state of public health disaster emergency shall now expire on October 17, 2021, at 11:59 p.m., unless sooner terminated or extended in writing by me," Reynolds said in the Proclamation.
The new proclamation is set to extend some regulatory relief to the health care system for 30 extra days and was signed on Sept. 17, according to WOWT News.
It also set straight the rules for state agency operations under the new proclamation Reynolds said in the document.
Iowa has seen a big increase in the average number of new COVID-19 cases and in outbreaks at nursing homes over the week ending Sept. 18, according to the Times-Republican.
The two-week increase in cases surged to 44% from 27% in just four days, according to the New York Times as reported in the Times-Republican.
The state recently reported 26 outbreaks at nursing homes compared to early August when there were just two outbreaks, according to the Times-Republican.
