Results from a recent poll conducted by the Des Moines Register and Mediacom Iowa have found that a quarter of Iowans do not intend to receive the COVID-19 vaccination, according to a KTVO.
Only 70% of adults in the state have received at least one dose of the vaccination or intend to get one. according to the poll.
"They're brainwashed by social media," Twitter user Iowa421 said, stating that their 17-year-old cousin refused to get vaccinated because they believed COVID-19 was "fake," even after that same cousin fell ill after visiting a movie theater without wearing a mask.
The poll's results are also consistent with recent data from the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention, which reported that 70.5% of Iowa adults have received at least one dose of the vaccination.
Additionally, the CDC has begun recommending COVID-19 vaccination booster doses for at-risk Americans, We Are Iowa reported.
The poll surveyed 805 Iowa residents from Sept. 12-15 and has a margin of error of +/- 3.5 points.
