Iowa looks to affirm its No. 5 ranking if not climb a step higher Friday night against the unbeaten Maryland Terrapins in College Park.
The Hawkeyes (4-0) were ranked No.5 in the Associate Press poll for the third straight week, following Saturday, Sept. 25's 24-14 triumph over Colorado State. Meanwhile, Iowa State fell out of the Top 20 rankings following its 31-29 loss to Baylor.
The Iowa Hawkeyes, with 1,277 points, remained at No.5, but were not the highest-ranked team in the Big Ten with Penn State rising to No.4 after being sixth last week, according to Cincinnati News Day.
The Top 3 spots remain unchanged heading into the weekend with Alabama, Georgia and Oregon manning the top of the rankings.
Iowa gets its toughest test of the season Friday, Oct. 1, at Maryland. The Terrapins are off to their best start since 2016.
