Polk County American Rescue Plan ACT (ARPA) Survey

Genbusiness001

First United Methodist Church of Des Moines recently issued the following announcement.

Polk County is determining how to spend ~$55M from the ARPA federal stimulus bill. AMOS has 3 ARPA funding priorities to increase the long-term economic stability of members of our community and increase access to resources critical to health and well-being. AMOS’ 3 funding priorities:

1.  Invest in Polk County’s nursing workforce. Training for LPNs and RNs, wrap-around services provided by Project Iowa, and living stipends to help un- and underemployed workers make a career leap to a living wage job as a nurse.

2.  Increase number of bilingual and culturally competent mental health professionals in Polk County through a scholarship program.

3.  Increase the number of affordable rental units, specifically for people earning between 30 and 50% of area median income.

Click here for a handout with more detailed information on each priority.

We want hundreds of Polk County residents to fill out the survey and demonstrate organized support behind AMOS’ funding priorities! Follow these 3 quick and easy steps (by Dec. 31st!):

1) Read these suggestions for how to fill out the survey and show AMOS’ funding priorities

2) Click here to fill out Polk County’s ARPA survey

3) Let AMOS know that you completed the survey here!  (Please enter First UMC DES MOINES as your institution.) We’re having a friendly competition to see which institution can organize the most people to fill it out

If you have any questions, please contact Wanda Wendt at 515-229-6399 (cell).  Thank you!
