Todd Brady, an Iowa state Senate District 21 candidate, recently addressed what he considered a lack of progress in protecting the state's most vulnerable individuals from COVID-19 in a Twitter post.
Brady, an Iowa native and software engineer, has already created a website called Vaccination Hunter in order to help individuals acquire a COVID-19 vaccination.
The inspiration for Vaccination Hunter arose when he discovered a "gap" in the state's Vaccinate Iowa website's location and appointment search options, according to his official website.
"I believe IA should be prioritizing public education, protecting our right to vote and battling Covid to protect our most vulnerable," Brady stated on Twitter. "I am not seeing progress, which is why I decided to run."
Brady, who is originally from Indianola, is running as a Democrat despite being raised in a Republican household.
"I think there is plenty of common ground to get things done, and move Iowa in a more positive direction," Brady stated on his website.
Additionally, Brady suggested that state senators no longer represent Iowans, but rather special interests and that he is running to represent all of the state's residents.
Brady's platform prioritizes public school funding, protecting people's right to vote and guaranteeing inclusivity for all Iowans, regardless of ethnicity, gender, religion, sexual orientation or gender identity.
