Intense rains north of the metro recently have led to the closure of George Flagg Parkway between SW 30th St. and Park Avenue this morning.
Moderate flooding of George Flagg Parkway in this section occurs when the Raccoon River reaches 11.3 feet and the Raccoon River reached a level of 12 feet early Tuesday morning leading to water covering parts of the road.
The Public Works team estimates that the road will be closed until Thursday, June 9th.
Current forecasts do not indicate further road closures will be necessary, but the Public Works team will closely monitor the river levels and flooding situation.
Update: George Flagg Parkway reopened on Wednesday, June 8.
