The fall leaves are in full color in Des Moines, and now is the perfect time to snap a photo for the 2022 Fall Tree Photo Contest.
The Des Moines Public Works Forestry Divison’s photo contest is accepting submissions through October 31st at DSM.city/FallTreePhotoContest.
“We are lucky to have an amazing urban forest here in Des Moines,” City Forester Shane McQuillan said. “This contest is a great way to get outside, appreciate the beauty of our trees, and celebrate the fall season.”
After submissions close on October 31st, a committee will select the finalists before a public vote to select the winner of the 2022 Fall Tree Photo contest.
The winner of the contest will receive the opportunity to select the species and location for a City street tree and a tree planting with the City forester.
Last year’s winner planted a red oak in the median along Urbandale Avenue in the Beaverdale Neighborhood.
