The City of Des Moines announced today the hiring of Nola Aigner Davis as the communications manager of the Communications Office. Davis joins the City from the Polk County Health Department where she as served as public health communications officer since 2014.
“Nola is a respected communicator in central Iowa who brings to this position a wealth of experience and professionalism,” said Chief Communications Officer Al Setka. “We know that her leadership will advance the strides the City has made these past several years in the areas of community engagement, media relations and internal communications.”
Davis is a communications professional with an undergraduate degree in public relations and marketing and a graduate degree in organizational communications. She has worked over a decade in public health communications both in rural and urban Iowa working to better the lives of individuals where they work, live and play. The past two and a half years she led the county on its communications initiatives surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic.
“I am excited about this opportunity and look forward to serving the residents of Des Moines,” said Nola Aigner Davis. “Keeping residents and businesses informed while ensuring transparency is something that inspired me about this position. My past experience has allowed me to hit the ground running and I can’t wait to see what the future of communications brings to this community.”
Davis began her work with the City on October 24, 2022.
