Zach Nunn, a U.S. Congressman representing Iowa's 3rd district, has voiced concerns over the exploitation of Iowa retirees by scammers, and proposed resolute measures against Iran. Nunn, who succeeded Cindy Axne in Congress in 2023, regularly utilizes social media to communicate initiatives and concerns pertinent to his office and constituents.

On April 1, 2025, Nunn highlighted on Twitter the frequent targeting of Iowa retirees by scammers, noting that these criminal activities have resulted in the loss of millions of dollars. He called for stringent actions, mentioning ongoing discussions about potential steps to expose and curb these fraudulent activities at the Financial Committee.

Later that day, Nunn announced the introduction of robust sanctions against Iran in a tweet dated April 1, 2025. Dubbed the Maximum Pressure Act, the legislation is designed to deliver an unequivocal stance against Iran’s perceived threats to American lives, allies, and international security.

Following up on the sanctions, Nunn reiterated his position on April 1, 2025, in another post. He emphasized that for too long Iran has acted unchecked, underscoring the necessity for strong measures such as the Maximum Pressure Act to firmly counteract Iran’s threats and to unequivocally signal that the United States will not relent.
