Congressman Zach Nunn, representing Iowa’s 3rd district, has recently shared his perspectives on several issues through a series of tweets. Nunn, who took office in 2023 after replacing Cindy Axne, is vocal about political transparency, healthcare reform, and honoring public service.
On May 15, 2025, Congressman Nunn addressed financial activities within Congress by stating that "Congress made more than $200 million in the market last year". He criticized this as "blatant corruption," citing the "Pelosi Tracker" which reportedly gave investors a 45% return for mimicking former Speaker Pelosi's trades. He called for an end to such practices with support from President Trump and Speaker Johnson.
In another tweet dated May 16, 2025, Nunn highlighted the financial burden of maternity care even for insured families. He noted that "it can cost more than $2,800 in out-of-pocket costs for maternity care". To address this issue, he introduced the HEALTH for MOM Act aimed at reducing these costs and ensuring comprehensive maternal care access for mothers reliant on Medicaid.
On the same day, Nunn also paid tribute to law enforcement officers by leading a bipartisan resolution. He commemorated Des Moines Officer Phoukham Tran who served courageously for over two decades. In his tweet, he stated that "I led a bipartisan resolution to honor his service and the service of every police officer who lost his or her life in the line of duty".
Zach Nunn has been serving Iowa’s 3rd District since 2023 after previously holding positions in both the Iowa House of Representatives and Senate. Born in Story City in 1979 and residing in Bondurant, he graduated from Drake University with a BA in 2002.
