A Burlington man has been sentenced to 17 years in federal prison for methamphetamine distribution. Larry Leroy Knotts, Jr., aged 61, was found guilty of selling approximately 125 grams of methamphetamine to a confidential source over the course of November and December 2023. At the time of these transactions, Knotts was already on federal supervised release following a prior conviction in the Central District of Illinois for conspiracy to manufacture methamphetamine.
Following his imprisonment, Knotts will be subjected to a five-year term of supervised release. The federal system does not offer parole options.
The announcement was made by United States Attorney Richard D. Westphal from the Southern District of Iowa. The investigation into this case was conducted by the Southeast Iowa Narcotics Task Force (SEINT) and the Burlington Police Department.
