Congressman Zach Nunn, who represents Iowa's 3rd congressional district, has recently addressed issues related to agriculture and digital innovation through a series of posts on his official Twitter account.

On July 29, 2025, Nunn expressed support for local food initiatives in Iowa. He stated, "Iowa families deserve fresh, local food, and Iowa farmers are ready to deliver. I’m backing the Local Farmers Feeding Our Communities Act to get more Iowa-grown meals into our schools, food banks, and homes. This is how we strengthen local farms and support healthy communities."

The following day, July 30, 2025, Nunn raised concerns about agricultural security in the state. He wrote on Twitter: "Iowa leads the nation in agricultural production, and that success makes us a target. The CCP is actively working to seal our innovation and undermine not only Iowa's food supply, but our entire supply chain. We need to recognize that agricultural security is national security." According to recent reports from federal agencies and news outlets, there have been ongoing concerns regarding foreign influence in U.S. agriculture and efforts by entities linked to China’s government—often referred to as the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)—to acquire American farmland or technology.

Later on July 30th, Nunn commented on developments in digital policy at the national level. He posted: "America is leading the world in digital innovation. Congratulations to @BoHines and the President’s Council on Digital Assets for a strong, commonsense report that charts a clear path for U.S. leadership in cryptocurrency." The President’s Council on Digital Assets was established as part of broader federal efforts aimed at providing regulatory clarity for cryptocurrencies while supporting technological growth.

Iowa remains one of the top states for agricultural output nationally due to its large-scale production of corn and soybeans—a status that brings both economic opportunity and heightened scrutiny over land ownership policies ([source](https://www.usda.gov/media/blog/2019/06/07/iowas-agricultural-economy)). Nationally, policymakers continue debating how best to balance open investment with protections against foreign control of critical infrastructure such as farmland ([source](https://www.reuters.com/world/us/us-house-panel-passes-bill-ban-chinese-purchase-us-farmland-2024-05-17/)). In parallel with these debates over physical resources like land or crops are conversations about securing America’s position within emerging sectors such as digital assets.
