Senator Chuck Grassley, representing Iowa, addressed several national and local issues in a series of posts on November 13, 2025. Grassley commented on the end of a government shutdown, answered questions from constituents at Akron-Westfield High School, and expressed support for an executive order aimed at helping foster youth.

In his first post on November 13, Grassley wrote: "After 43 days:Schumer Shutdown ENDS & govt services will b restored

costs $$ to shutdown govt &costs $$ to reopen govt Historically nothing is accomplished when govt shuts down for political purposes The Schumer Shutdown is no different & families/economy felt the pain BAD MOVE". The senator criticized the recent government shutdown, attributing it to political maneuvering and noting its negative impact on families and the economy.

Later that day, Grassley highlighted topics discussed during a Q&A session with 81 participants at Akron-Westfield High School. On November 13 he posted: "Q&A Akron-Westfield HS 81ppl issues: Mortgages fuel prices Medicare Medicaid rural hospitals student loan debt AI farm bill housing food stamps Israel veterans programs cancer rates etc #99countymeetings https://t.co/Q3nabQmasp". The list included a range of concerns such as healthcare programs, student loan debt, rural hospital funding, artificial intelligence policy, agricultural legislation, and international affairs.

In another post on November 13, Grassley expressed approval for an executive order signed by President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump to increase support for youth who have experienced foster care. He stated: "Pleased Pres Trump & First Lady Melania signed exec order 2 increase support for youth who hv experienced foster care Its an important commitment to improve the lives of foster youth I look fwd 2 supporting these efforts how I can in the Senate".

Grassley's remarks come amid ongoing debates over federal spending and social policy. Government shutdowns have historically disrupted public services and imposed financial costs without resolving underlying political disputes. Issues raised during his community meeting reflect persistent concerns among Iowans about economic pressures and access to essential services.
