Iowa joined the lawsuit against President Joe Biden’s business vaccine mandate.

Iowa is now part of an 11-state lawsuit that is fighting business vaccine mandates put in place by the Biden administration, KCCI reported.

“I believe the vaccine is the best defense against COVID-19, but I also firmly believe in Iowans’ right to make healthcare decisions based on what’s best for themselves and their families, and I remain committed to protecting those freedoms," Gov. Kim Reynolds said in a Nov. 5 release from her office. "President Biden should do the same."

The text of the lawsuit goes over the reasons for their opposition in more detail.

“This mandate is unconstitutional, unlawful and unwise," the text of the lawsuit said, according the release. "The federal government lacks constitutional authority under its enumerated powers to issue this mandate, and its attempt to do so unconstitutionally infringes on the states’ powers expressly reserved by the 10th Amendment."

The lawsuit was filed in the 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in St. Louis. The vaccine mandate goes into effect for businesses that have 100 employees or more. Reynolds argued that the mandate oversteps on the powers of the states, citing the 10th Amendment.

Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wyoming are included in the other states in the lawsuit, according to KCCI.
