Senator Chuck Grassley, a Republican from Iowa and the longest-serving Republican in Senate history, shared updates on social media regarding recent legislative actions to address the ongoing government shutdown. In a series of posts on November 10 and 11, 2025, Grassley highlighted bipartisan progress in Congress.

On November 10, Grassley posted, "2day is day 41 of the Schumer Shutdown Last night we finally got the bipartisanship we needed to proceed to govt funding More votes to come PROGRESS". Later that day, he discussed a meeting with students: "Enjoyed mtg w students frm Westwood Community School District Issues: Govt shutdown, UNI, ethanol, my weekly calls w ag reporters, bipartisanship etc.".

In an update on November 11, Grassley stated: "Senate votes in bipartisan way to advance govt funding & 1 step closer to stopping the Schumer Shutdown Now to the House

Thx Leader Thune for strong leadership to return govt to American ppl".

The term "Schumer Shutdown," used by Grassley and other Republicans, refers to Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer. The current impasse marks one of several instances in recent years where disagreements over federal spending have led to partial government closures. Bipartisan negotiations are often necessary for progress on funding bills in a divided Congress.

Grassley's mention of issues such as ethanol and agriculture reflects Iowa's significant role in those sectors. His reference to weekly calls with agricultural reporters highlights his ongoing engagement with constituents on topics relevant to the state's economy.
