On November 10, Nunn marked the anniversary of the United States Marine Corps by stating: "For 250 years, the @USMC has defended our nation with courage, honor, and an unwavering commitment to freedom at home and abroad. Happy Birthday to the United States Marine Corps! "
Later that day, he addressed concerns about military readiness in Iowa: "The Iowa Air National Guard’s 185th Air Refueling Wing has stood ready to defend our nation for decades, but its runway at Sioux Gateway Airport can’t safely support KC-135 tankers without upgrades. I joined the Iowa delegation to send a letter urging Congress to retain critical" (posted November 10). The Sioux Gateway Airport in Sioux City serves as a base for the Air National Guard’s refueling wing. The KC-135 Stratotanker is a primary aerial refueling aircraft used by the U.S. Air Force; maintaining suitable infrastructure is necessary for continued operations.
On Veterans Day, November 11, Nunn honored local veterans: "On Veterans Day, we honor the Iowans who answered the call to serve and remember that freedom is never free. This morning, I joined local veterans at Prairie Meadows’ annual Veterans Day Program — a meaningful tradition that brings our communities together to recognize the". Prairie Meadows hosts an annual event commemorating veterans' service in central Iowa.
